Traditional Broker: Will make one or more appointments to market themselves and their company to you. They will provide you with a Market Analysis of your home. Traditional Brokers act as gate keepers of the important data used to help price your home. They, not you, will select the comparable sales and competing listings using the multiple listing system database, and arrive at a suggested listing price. Some Brokers will sense that you want more for your home than the market will command, and they tell you what you want to hear, expecting to get you to reduce the price over time - this is called "buying the listing". This is a disservice to you, the seller, because typically you will get the best offers when your property is new to the market. If it is overpriced, buyers will pass on it.
